Heldinky yw band pedwarawd sydd wedi’u lleoli ym Mangor, gogledd Cymru. Tyfodd y canwr, gitarydd ac ysgrifennwr caneuon cynradd, Helena Palombo, i fyny yn ne Llundain, gan wrando ar artistiaid fel Tim Buckley, Annette Peacock, Elizabeth Frazer a Kate Bush cyn symud i ogledd Cymru. Yma, perfformiodd fel artist unigol, gan chwarae mewn gigs a gwyliau ledled y DU. Mewn un adolygiad, disgrifiwyd y grŵp fel rhai sy’n chwarae “cerddoriaeth ddwys, dywyll a hardd o frawychus.”
Heldinky, are a 4-piece band based in Bangor, north Wales. Singer, guitarist and primary songwriter Helena Palombo grew up in south London, listening to the likes of Tim Buckley, Annette Peacock, Elizabeth Frazer and Kate Bush before relocating to north Wales. Here she performed as a solo artist, also playing at gigs and festivals around the UK. The group have been described in one review as playing “intense, dark and hauntingly beautiful music.”
Heldinky’s first album was recently listened to and kindly commented on “This one is mesmerising: shades of early PJ Harvey, forgotten pastoral indie band Faith Over Reason, a little Bill Nelson” by the wonderful Jerry Thackray AKA Everett True, musician, academic and music journalist (NME, Rolling Stone, Mojo, The Guardian). When looking into his background I stumbled across his close links to Nirvana (it was Jerry who wheeled friend Kurt Cobain on stage at Reading 1992) 🤘
